Last week, I attended the British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel (BFAMI) Gala Dinner that raises through an auction funds to support the said museums and their educational program. This year guest of Honour was Yinka Shonibare MBE whose presentation was quite inspirational and put an emphasis on the importance of the Israeli Museums in his career.
Generally speaking the lots were on the safe side, some of them quite decorative, which might just be a result of the difficulties charities cope with when it comes to raising funds this year. Alex Israel’s work was the surprise of the night when a bidder went from £15,000 to £100,000.
A night that hopefully has proved to being a success for the charity.
